A construction worker has died after falling four stories from an Old City building.

The incident happened near 3rd and Arch streets at about 2 p.m. Thursday, Philadelphia police said.

The 28-year-old man was working on the site when he fell. The man was transported to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 3 p.m.

“L&I emergency services inspector responded to site and found no structural damage to building under construction,” said L&I spokesperson Karen Guss. “It is new construction with proper permits.”

The medical examiner's office has not yet released the man's identity.
