West Catholic High's Brandon Hollomon is having a pretty good run these days. Last Saturday, his Burrs won the PIAA Class AA state football championship. Earlier this week, he was selected as this week's Leonard Weaver/Daily News award winner.
Hollomon will attend Sunday night's game against the Minnesota Vikings at Lincoln Financial Field.
Weaver is giving his two game tickets for each Eagles home game this season to local high school football players who excel on and off the field and show great character. Nominees are submitted to the Daily News and the final selection is made by Weaver.
Hollomon gained 113 yards on 14 carries and scored a touchdown as West Catholic won its first state title in football, 50-14, over South Fayette at Hershey.
Hollomon plays running back and defensive back for the Burrs. For his career, he gained 3,264 yards on the ground.
"Brandon in the classroom has a 2.87 GPA and a 980 on the SAT," West Catholic coach Brian Fluck said. "Brandon is a good kid and a hard worker. Brandon has several Division I schools offering him scholarships that he has to consider. [Brandon] is another kid who makes us proud at West Catholic."
Winners will attend the game with an adult chaperone (it must be a parent, guardian or coach). Hollomon will meet Weaver before the game and will receive two pregame sideline passes, courtesy of the Eagles.
