On the market: A 1960s stone Colonial ranch in Penn Valley for $799,000
“When you sat in the living room, it didn’t matter what season it was. You were always in the middle of nature."
Anthony and Melissa Levin didn’t know each other when he bought the stone Colonial in Penn Valley, but “we absolutely made it a home. It was as if we chose it together.”
It was the summer of 2006, and Anthony, a family physician who grew up in Lafayette Hill, had recently moved back to the area from Arizona.
A few weeks later, they were introduced by a mutual friend, and he ultimately proposed to her in the kitchen.
And now they have moved to Arizona as they inch toward retirement.
“I’m an outdoors guy,” Anthony said. “I always liked hiking, cycling. The trees, the stream … it reminded me of my childhood.”
Melissa, who is in human resources for a financial services company, took up painting and redid the kitchen.
“I loved the windows,” she says. “When you sat in the living room, it didn’t matter what season it was. You were always in the middle of nature. I get a little misty-eyed thinking about it.”
The three-bedroom, two-bath house is on a three-quarter-acre lot perched high above Penn Valley with an open-concept floor plan and high ceilings. It has 2,378 square feet of space.
The center-hall entrance opens to the great room with custom built-in bookshelves and cabinetry with window exposure on three sides overlooking the park-like setting with treetop views and a stream.
The chef’s kitchen was redone in 2018 and has antiqued maple cabinetry, wide plank rustic hardwood flooring, quartz counters, and professional appliances, including a Wolf 6 burner range with griddle and double ovens.
There are a large flagstone patio for alfresco dining and an unfinished basement with high ceilings that can be converted to multiple uses.
The owner’s suite has a large, sun-filled dressing room, a huge walk-in closet and a skylit en suite bath with floor-to-ceiling vintage tile, stall shower and pedestal sink.
There is a large, two-car garage and private driveway, and the house is in the Lower Merion School District.
The house is listed by Jordan Wiener of Compass Realty for $799,000.
