Fox 29 has named a replacement for sports anchor Kristen Rodgers, who left the station last month, and the new anchor is no stranger to Philadelphia.

Breland Moore, a Temple graduate, will report and anchor sports coverage for the 5, 6, 10, and 11 p.m. newscasts beginning May 24, according to the station. She’ll also host Sports Sunday as well as anchor the station’s Eagles pregame show during football season. When she was studying at Temple, Moore was also one of the performers inside the school mascot Hooter the Owl.

Moore, who was raised in Reading and once appeared as Hooter on Fox 29′s morning show Good Day Philadelphia, is coming to Philly from Kansas City, where she was the sports anchor at KCTV. She began her TV career in Allentown at Service Electric Cable TV before moving to WHEC in Rochester, N.Y., where as a sports reporter she covered the Buffalo Bills.

“No matter where this job led me, I’ve always hoped for a full-circle journey to bring me back to Philadelphia. I’m ready to return to the city that raised and educated me so I can cover the very teams and athletes that inspired me to get into this profession in the first place,” Moore said in a statement released by the station.
