Three movies to catch this week
Queen Latifah stars in "End of the Road," things are not right at an Airbnb in "Barbarian," and the documentary "Flight/Risk" focuses on the crashes of two brand new Boeing 737 Max planes.
‘Barbarian’
In last week’s Love in the Villa, double-booked accommodations were the basis for a rom-com. Not here. This time a woman books an Airbnb, only to find a man already staying there. She soon learns the property is a bigger problem than the extra guest. The horror/thriller is written and directed by Zach Cregger. Stars Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgard, Justin Long. (Rated R. Premieres Friday, Sept. 9, in theaters.)
‘Flight/Risk’
A look at the impact and ripple effect on the lives of ordinary people around the world after the 2018 and 2019 crashes of two brand-new Boeing 737 Max planes only months apart. Also, the story of a Seattle Times reporter who took on his area’s biggest employer. Directed by Karim Amer and Omar Mullick. (Rated PG [but not for children]. Premieres Friday, Sept. 9 on Prime Video.)
‘End of the Road’
Queen Latifah (The Equalizer) is back in tough gal mode, playing a widow driving her family to a new life. Matters get worse when a fight goes down at their motel, then worse when they get stuck in the New Mexico desert and still worse when they become the target of a killer who wants his drug money. With Beau Bridges and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges. Directed by Millicent Shelton. (Rated R. Premieres Friday, Sept. 9, on Netflix.)
