Everybody's favorite nanny is hosting Philly Pride this year. Fran Drescher, best known for her role as Fran Fine on the hit CBS sitcom "The Nanny", will headline the annual LGBT event at Penn's Landing on June 14. The Philadelphia Gay News made the announcement this morning.
"Fran is someone that every generation knows," said Philly Pride Presents executive director Franny Price. "She's funny. She's smart. It's going to be very entertaining."
Drescher knows a thing or two about the gay community. Since her ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson came out of the closet, Drescher has worked to support LGBT rights and issues. Drescher has stated, "We choose to be in each other's' lives in any capacity. Our love is unique, rare, and unconditional; unless he's being annoying."
We all know Pride needs a lift. I'm just not sure if this is the (face) lift we were talking about.
Glee's Alex Newell will also perform. Nellie Fitzpatrick, the city's newly appointed Director of LGBT Affairs and Dr. Rachel Levine, the state's acting physician general will both be grand marshals for the parade.
