Academic, journalist, and television personality Marc Lamont Hill will join the staff of Temple University's Klein College of Media and Communication in Fall 2017, the school announced Friday.
A former commentator at CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC, Hill will head to Temple from Morehouse College, where he currently works as a Distinguished Professor of Africana Studies, a release states. Hill, a North Philadelphia native who graduated from Temple in 2000 and later taught at the university's College of Education, will return to the university to serve as Klein College's first Steve Charles Chair in Media, Cities and Solutions.
Hill's new role was endowed last year with a $2 million donation from Steve Charles, a Temple trustee and 1980 Klein College alumnus who founded IT firm immixGroup following his time at the school. Charles previously established a Klein College scholarship fund in 2011 targeted at students interested in pursuing entrepreneurship.
In addition to holding the Steve Charles Chair position, Hill will also teach urban education at the College of Education. The position will have Hill "train students in journalism and media that can positively impact communities," according to a release.
