EATS 2015: 10 chefs, 9 food trucks, 1 night

The Food Trust and Wat Bodd Voraditth Orphanage will be the beneficiaries.

Chef/restaurateur Moon Krapugthong (Chabaa Thai; Yanako) and kitchen designer Judy Spielman (Space by Spielman Ltd) have rustled up 10 chefs and nine food trucks for a night of friendly culinary competition called EATS.

Chef Brian Duffy will host at World Cafe Live on May 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. The trucks will be set up outside, while inside the chefs are due to cook their interpretations of "street food." (VIP ticket-holders get to sample the dishes.)

Chefs: Chad Rosenthal of The Lucky Well, Chip Roman of Blackfish, Erin O'Shea of Percy Street BBQ, Josh Lawler of Farm & Fisherman, Marcie Turney (representing the forthcoming Bud & Marilyn's), Peter Woolsey of Bistrot LaMinette and La Peg, Scott Schroeder of South Philly Tap Room, Sylva Senat of Ippin Mono Kitchen (and the forthcoming Maison 208), Tod Wentz of Townsend, and Tony Clark of Valley Forge Casino.

Trucks: Surf & Turf Truck, Samosa Deb, Nomad Pizza, Farm Truck, Zsa's, Sweetbox, Frecon Farms Cidery, and Pennswoods Winery, plus Penn Distributors (beer).

Judges: cookbook author and chef Aliza Green, chef Joseph Poon, educator Jonathan Deutsch of Drexel University, Mary Bigham of The Town Dish, and Michael Klein of Philly.com.

Proceeds will benefit Wat Bodd Voraditth Orphanage in Thailand's Angthong Province and local nonprofit The Food Trust.
