Pierce, McManus are honorable-mention all-Americas
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Temple tailback Bernard Pierce and punter Brandon McManus were named honorable-mention all-Americas by SI.com.
Pierce, a 6-foot, 220-pound junior, has rushed for 1,381 yards and a school-record 25 touchdowns this season. He did that despite missing one game with a concussion, playing two others with a hamstring injury and being taken out in the third quarter of a number of games because Temple had huge leads.
McManus, a 6-3, 190-pound junior, ranks fifth in the Football Bowl Subdivision with an average of 45.89 yards per punt. Not bad, considering this is his first season as a college punter.
He has 15 punts land inside opposing teams' 20-yard line.
The duo will lead the Owls (8-4) into Saturday's New Mexico Bowl game against Wyoming (8-4).
