Members of Temple's football team are busy.
The Owls are taking final exams. They had their senior appreciation dinner Sunday night. The coaching staff is visiting and hosting recruits.
And, oh, in their spare time, Temple (8-4) is preparing to face Wyoming in Saturday's New Mexico Bowl in Albuquerque.
"We got a lot of balls in the air right now," Owls coach Steve Addazio said. "But as I told our staff, as hard as it is, right now, on Dec. 17, we fly back [after the game]. "And on the 18th, we get a chance to kick back and reflect on a great season, be able to be a normal human being and be able to buy a Christmas present for your wife."
For now, hoever, the Owls are elated to face the Cowboys (8-4) in what will be first game of the bowl season. This gives Temple an opportunity to showcase itself to an ESPN national audience. And three weeks removed from their regular-season finale, the Owls are still fresh.
"I mean this a pretty quick turnaround," Addazio said. "It's really just a bye week."
After taking a week off, the Owls went back to practice last week. They practiced Monday and will work out Tuesday before flying to Albuquerque Wednesday morning. Shortly after the plane lands, Temple has a two-hour practice scheduled.
"And we will have a practice on Thursday," Addazio said. "So I think our preparation has been good. It has been physical. We certainly haven't backed off."
