Neumann-Goretti coach Andrea Peterson was named the Naismith Trophy National Coach of the Year on Wednesday. Peterson, in her first year at the helm, has led the Saints to a 28-0 record, a second consecutive Catholic League title, and a berth in the PIAA Class AA Quarterfinals. Neumann-Goretti is ranked No. 1 in the country by USA Today.
Peterson, a former standout at Archbishop Carroll, played collegiately at St. John's and Drexel and was an assistant at Stetson. She took over for Letty Santarelli, who resigned in November.
