Prep Charter girls' banned from postseason play

The three-time defending Public League girls' basketball champions will be barred from postseason play for one season after a vote on Friday by the board of PIAA District 12.

Robert Coleman, the board's executive director, said the entire athletic program has been placed on probation for two years after an investigation by the School District's inspector general's office yielded that the girls' basketball program used players with false Philadelphia addresses to capture the last two Public League and District 12 titles.

The Huskies will retain those titles, Coleman said, because they had valid transfer forms signed by both Coatesville High and Prep Charter.

According to the report by the Inspector General, Hannah Timmons and Martianna Wilson listed false Southwest Philadelphia addresses in order to attend Prep Charter. Investigators visited the addresses and ruled that they still lived in Coatesville.
