Archbishop Carroll star, Temple recruit Ernest Aflakpui injures knee

Archbishop Carroll center Ernest Aflakpui will have knee surgery on Thursday morning, according to Patriots head coach Paul Romanczuk.

The 6-foot-10 senior signed his letter of intent in October to play at Temple. He injured his right meniscus this week during Carroll's practice. Romanczuk said the surgery will determine how much time Aflakpui will miss. He has scored 16 points in each of Carroll's three games this season.

Rivals ranks Aflakpui as a three-star recruit. He was a key signing for the Owls, joining Haverford School's Levan Alston and Ewing (N.J.)'s Trey Lowe in Fran Dunphy's highest-rated class.

Carroll arrived in Florida on Wednesday night and will begin play in the City of Palms Tournament on Thursday.
