Getting around Dad Vail Regatta this weekend
With Dad Vail Regatta underway, roads are closing along the Schuylkill.
Kelly Drive from Strawberry Mansion to Fountain Green Drives shut down at 10 a.m. Thursday and will not reopen to drivers until 8 p.m. Saturday (weather permitting). Martin Luther King Drive will also be closed Saturday.
Admission to the regatta is free. Racing started at 7 a.m. Friday.
Parking is available in the Mount Pleasant section of East Fairmount Park. From there you can take a short walk down Fountain Green Drive to Rowers' Village, or board one of the free shuttle buses. The shuttles make four stops: Canoe Club, Grand Stand (finish line), Rowers' Village and the Art Museum.
SEPTA is also running the 32 and 38 buses on John F. Kennedy and Pennsylvania Boulevards. The transit authority instructs riders to get off near the Art Museum, and hop on a shuttle bus.
