A Burlington Township fire lieutenant is accused of robbing a TD Bank, a crime co-workers speculated may have been motivated by mounting medical bills.
Police said Andrew Baldinger, 42, of Westampton, was arrested Monday and charged with robbery and weapons offenses in the Willingboro heist, according to a story from the Burlington County Times.
Baldinger allegedly passed a note to a bank teller saying that he was armed and demanding money, according to the story.

Baldinger, who was being held at the Burlington County Jail on $100,000 bail,  is listed as a lieutenant at Independent Fire Co., one of three volunteer companies comprising the Burlington Township Fire Department. He is also a 20-year member of the Beverly-Edgewater Park Emergency Squad, according to the Burlington County Times.

"That's not the person that I would know that would do something like that. Something else had to set it off," Beverly Council President Robert Bancroft told 6ABC.

"I'm just shocked and disheartened. We know he's been going through some medical issues," one colleague, Squad Capt. Kraig McLaughlin, told the paper. He suggested that medical bills may have pressured Baldinger, who is now on administrative leave, into a desperation move.
