Thousands in Philadelphia protest conviction of NYPD officer Peter Liang

About 2,000 protesters marched in Center City Philadelphia on Saturday morning in support of New York police officer Peter Liang, who was convicted by a New York jury on Feb. 11 of manslaughter in the 2014 shooting death of an unarmed man, Akai Gurley, 28, in a darkened Brooklyn public-housing stairwell.

The rally, which drew many Chinese Americans and during which protesters shouted "Justice for all," was part of a nationwide show of support for Liang. Organizers said rallies took place in more than 30 cities in the U.S. Saturday.
