Black History Month: We want to hear your Black Joy story
The 2017 installment of Black History Untold is underway. This year's theme is "Black Joy," the practice of celebrating black culture and black people despite the world dictating otherwise. We're excited to showcase our participants, but we want to hear from you. Share your Black Joy moment with us in one of four ways:
Tweet: Using Twitter, tweet your Black Joy moment text, photo, video to us @phillydotcom using the hashtag #BlackHistoryUntold.

Brandon Brown, 46, Director of Diversity and Inclusion at St. Joseph's Preparatory School
"My black joy moment is when I get to see my Sigma Betas (fraternity youth group members) graduate from high school. For a lot of them, it's been a long journey and the look they give me when they see me there supporting them...that's joy."
Stephen Ashmon, 25, Darby
"My black joy moment was when I graduated from college. I was able to go against the odds."
Denise Brame, 50, West Philly, Direct care worker for seniors and children
"My black joy moment was the election of our first black president. That made me proud. Hearing him win was such a joyful moment."
