Obi Enechionyia to return to Temple for his senior season
He said he is pulling his name out of the NBA draft and will return for his senior season.
Temple forward Obi Enechionyia will put his dream of playing in the NBA on hold for another year.
"I am withdrawing my name from the draft and going back to school," Enechionyia said Monday in a text message. The move was not a surprise.
Because Enechionyia never hired an agent, he is eligible to return to Temple for his senior season. He had until Wednesday's deadline to withdraw his name.
Enechionyia was not invited to the NBA combine, but he did have a workout Friday with the Boston Celtics.
Early this season, he had the look of a first-round draft choice, but the 6-foot-10 Enechionyia went into a prolonged slump. He still ended up shooting 38.5 percent from three-point range, and his shooting ability will be his selling point at the next level. Enechionyia averaged 13.1 points and 5.8 rebounds this season.
With Enechionyia coming back and the return of point guard Josh Brown, who was given a medical redshirt after appearing in just five games, the Owls are expected to be vastly improved. They finished 16-16 this season and lost to East Carolina in the first round of the American Athletic Conference tournament.
