Eagles agree to terms with former Seahawks safety Chris Maragos

The Eagles have agreed to terms with safety/special-teams ace Chris Maragos on a three-year deal Wednesday morning. Maragos, 27, comes to Philadelphia after three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks.

Maragos will sign a three-year contract worth $4 million, with $1 million guaranteed, according to a league source. The Eagles beat out the Washington Redskins for his services, and he will be needed to help the Eagles' special teams.

At 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds, Maragos has carved a career as a core special teams player. The Wisconsin product went undrafted and signed with the San Francisco 49ers in 2010. Maragos has played 43 career games, including all 16 games with the Super Bowl champions last season. He played 53 defensive snaps last season with Seattle, backing up the best safety combination in the NFL.

Maragos' signing likely spells the end of Colt Anderson and Kurt Coleman's tenures with the Eagles. The Eagles have added Malcolm Jenkins and Maragos in free agency, and re-signed punter Donnie Jones.
