Early alert: F.E.D., an Asian restaurant/bar, coming to Chinatown

Far East Descendant is now being built in a freestanding building next to a parking lot at 13th and Vine Streets.

Chinatown seems to be on the upswing with new projects.

On the sooner side is the enormous Canton 11, which is looking at a spring debut on Arch Street near 11th. There's summertime, when the Chinatown Square food hall could open on Race near 10th.

On the later side, maybe by the end of the year, is a restaurant/bar coming to the Vine Street end of Chinatown.

It's called Far East Descendant, and it's now being built in a freestanding building at 240 N. 13th St., next to a parking lot at 13th and Vine Streets.

It's also next door to the former Big Brothers/Big Sisters national headquarters and just up the block from Nom Wah Tea Parlor.

There's not too many details to share, other than the cuisine - Asian, not specifically Chinese - and the owner's background, which is in architectural/design/real estate development.

Stay tuned.
