Restaurant expansions: Snap Custom Pizza, Honeygrow, Bryn + Dane's

Amid the current restaurant boom, that fast-casual category is the hottest.

Snap Custom Pizza, the customizable pizza/salad/grain bowl mini-chain, will open its fifth location - after Center City, Ardmore, Exton, and Newark, Del. - on Tuesday, Dec. 27 at 1125 Lancaster Ave. in Bryn Mawr. It's the former Peace a Pizza in the Rosemont section, still next door to Hope's Cookies (which leads to a delicious confluence of aromas in the dining room).

Honeygrow, the meteorically growing stir fry/salad/smoothie specialist, has just signed a deal at 15 S. 11th St., with an eye to opening in summer 2017. That is across from the East Market development on Market between 11th and 12th Streets, and is directly across from the forthcoming MOM's Organic Market. The building, now undergoing a total renovation, has a cool history:  It was designed by William Steele & Sons, which also designed Shibe Park (later Connie Mack Stadium). It also was one of the first steel and reinforced concrete skyscrapers during the time.

Bryn + Dane's, the healthy fast-fooder, is about 30 days out for its location at Blank Aschkenasy Properties' Bryn Mawr Village, at 909 Lancaster Ave. in Bryn Mawr. In early spring, it's expected to open two more: in Atwater Corporate Center's Atwater Village in Malvern, which will have a drive-thru, as well as in Center City at the Franklin, on the 800 block of Chestnut Street.
