It's the inaugural retail cannabis shop in Pennsylvania for Harvest Enterprises, whose parent company is in Arizona. Harvest of Reading occupies a former tuxedo store on the 3200 block of North 5th Street Highway. "With the opening of our Reading dispensary, patients and caregivers will no longer have to drive a hour or more to reach a dispensary," said Steve White, founder and chief executive of Harvest.
Harvest, which also grows and processes cannabis in other states, has licenses to operate in Arkansas, California, Maryland, Nevada, Ohio, and North Dakota.
More than 30 dispensaries are now open in Pennsylvania. The state Department of Health will announce additional dispensary permit winners before the end of the year.
