Where to find returning favorites
Fall brings new seasons of "Homeland," "Scandal" and other hits.
A NEW TV season isn't only about the new.
Here's where to find (and maybe what to expect from) some returning favorites:
* Things grow more complicated for the lovers on those romantic-comedies-with-murders "Bones" (8 p.m. Monday, Fox 29) and "Castle" (10 p.m. Sept. 23, 6ABC), but neither so far is going the "Moonlighting" route, thank goodness.
* "The Mindy Project" (9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Fox 29) also faces a will-they-or-won't-they moment, but no one is killed - not even James Franco, who plays the doctor who replaced Mindy when she left for Haiti. If you're not watching already, you should be.
* Don't look for Brody (Damian Lewis) to show up immediately in the return of "Homeland" (9 p.m. Sept. 29, Showtime), but his absence will not go unremarked in a Season 3 premiere that focuses on the damage done to those he's left behind, including, of course, Carrie (Claire Danes).
* Real-estate mogul Barbara Corcoran and QVC queen (and part-time Center City resident) Lori Greiner will go head-to-head for the first time in the season premiere of "Shark Tank" (9 p.m. Sept. 20, 6ABC). Place your bets now.
* How will "NCIS" (8 p.m. Sept. 24, CBS3) deal with the apparently unexpected exit of Cote de Pablo, the actress who plays Ziva David? And will that departure cause more or less viewer angst than stolen nukes do in "NCIS: Los Angeles," which follows at 9?
* "Parenthood" (10 p.m. Sept. 26, NBC10) is moving to Thursdays. Ray Romano will be back. The field may be clear for his character's romance with Lauren Graham's. Jason Ritter, whose "Parenthood" character was also involved with Graham's, is set to star with Alexis Bledel (who, yes, played Graham's daughter in "Gilmore Girls") in a midseason comedy for Fox, "Us & Them," based on the British series "Gavin & Stacey."
* "The Good Wife" (9 p.m. Sept. 29, CBS3) ended last season on such a satisfying - and surprising note - I've almost forgotten the unpleasantness with Kalinda's husband that dogged it earlier. If you're behind, CBS is streaming the entire season at CBS.com for a limited time.
* I have no idea what's happening next on "Scandal" (10 p.m. Oct. 3, 6ABC), much less how we're supposed to wait nearly three more weeks to find out.
While many shows will return the week of Sept. 22 - the broadcast networks' official premiere week - here are some starting earlier or later (or moving to new nights):
"Dancing With the Stars," 8 p.m. Monday, 6ABC.
"New Girl," 9 p.m. Tuesday, Fox 29.
"Survivor: Blood vs. Water," 8 p.m. Wednesday, CBS3.
"The Neighbors," 8:30 p.m. Sept. 20, 6ABC. (Moving to Fridays.)
"Revolution," 8 p.m. Sept. 25, NBC10. (Moving to Wednesdays.)
"Hawaii Five-0," 9 p.m. Sept. 27, CBS3. (Moving to Fridays.)
"American Horror Story: Coven," 10 p.m. Oct. 9, FX.
"The Walking Dead," 9 p.m. Oct. 13, AMC.
"Grimm," 9 p.m. Oct. 25, NBC10.
"Raising Hope," 9 p.m. Nov. 8, Fox 29. (Moving to Fridays.)
