Artist Rusty Gilligan to be at Wizard World

Artist Rusty Gilligan to appear on panels, meet fans, sign prints

LONGTIME ARTIST Rusty Gilligan has been drawing comics and doing conventions for over 30 years now, but says Philly still holds a special place in his heart.

"The people in Philly are awesome," Gilligan said. "Plus, I love the antiquity and history of the town. It's amazing how much creativity and history is crammed into this beautiful city. It's inspiring to me."

Gilligan started in the comics industry in 1978 and has done some work for both Marvel and DC. He has also done production art for films such as Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3 and Marvel's The Avengers and TV shows like The Walking Dead.

"I am most proud of being an artist on 'Heavy Metal' back in the early '80s and most recently, the hit 'Mac and Trouble' comic, which was one of my own creations."

In fact, Gilligan says fans and con goers can expect to see "a 7-foot tall version of the Mac character walking around, handing out free cards and photos to fans."

Gilligan says he will be busy this weekend.

"I will offer some affordable art prints that I've drawn and I have many exclusive free items, including some high-profile free promo cards all weekend.

"I'll also be signing my items. I have some beautiful original prints. I'm also taking part in two panels - Captain America and a Walking Dead one."

Gilligan is pumped to be at Wizard Philly 2016.

"Wizard puts on the nicest fan shows. I wish there were events like this when I was a kid in the '70s."
