The so-called leaking of hard-core sex tapes has become a Hollywood rite of passage. While it may not catapult a wannabe A-lister to Kim Kardashian-esque heights, it does little damage to the participants. Proving that is this list of celebrities who've earned stars in the Sex Tape Hall of Infamy:
Mimi Faust, of "Love & Hip Hop Atlanta" fame, made headlines earlier this year after a steamy video of her and boyfriend Nikko Smith went viral. Highlight: A memorable and much-parodied shower scene that reportedly sparked a run on shower rods.
Kim Kardashian became an overnight sensation in 2007 after a sex tape with then boyfriend/singer Ray J went public. Around the same time, the socialite inked a deal to co-star in "Keeping Up with the Kardashians." She also sued Vivid Entertainment for distributing "Kim K Superstar" and reportedly won $5 million.
Paris Hilton's sexually explicit tape, "1 Night in Paris," sparked a media firestorm in 2004 shortly before the debut of her short-lived TV series, "The Simple Life." Critics speculate that its release may have been planned to hype the show.

Pamela Anderson has two leaked sex tapes - a honeymoon video with first husband Tommy Lee, and a sequel with Bret Michaels.
Rob Lowe's acting career took a severe hit after a 1988 sex tape surfaced of him in a threesome that included a 16-year-old girl.
Lowe was 24 at the time, and one of the first Hollywood stars to be outted in a sex-tape scandal. Years later, he joked about it with Oprah Winfrey saying, "Sometimes being a trailblazer is highly overrated."
Jayne Kennedy's career as an actress/sports commentator was derailed in the 1980s after a sex tape she made with then-husband Leon Isaac Kennedy fell into nefarious hands during a reported robbery. She's widely credited with being the first major celebrity involved in a sex-tape scandal.
