American Masters (9 p.m., WHYY-TV12) - "Louisa May Alcott: The Woman Behind Little Women" profiles the Massachusetts author who led a literary double life, writing scandalous works about murderers and opium fiends under the pseudonym A.M. Barnard - a fact unknown until the 1940s. Moreover, while Little Women is viewed as quaint by some modern readers, Alcott herself was a fiercely intellectual free thinker with very progressive ideas about women.
