Saint Joseph's University will open its new Hawks' Landing parking and retail facility at 54th and City Avenue at a ribbon-cutting ceremony today at 5 p.m.
The $19 million project features a five-story, 460-space parking garage with a new and expanded University Bookstore and a Cosi restaurant underneath.
Located near Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse, Hawks' Landing will provide parking for athletic events. Freshman Ellen Begley won a contest to name the facility.
To mark its grand opening, the University Bookstore will host a signing by David Baldacci, author of Stone Cold, from 3 to 4 p.m. In addition, all general books, clothing and gifts will be discounted 20 percent.
The CityAve Special Services District and St. Joseph's worked together to improve the pedestrian walkway in front of the garage, an upgrade that is planned along City Avenue from the Presidential Blvd. to 63rd Street.
