A Chester man was killed and two others wounded in two separate shootings that police said Wednesday were possibly related.

About 10:36 p.m. on Tuesday, police received reports of a shooting in the 1000 block of Butler Street.

A 35-year-old man and a 29-year-old man were standing with friends in the sidewalk when an unidentified gunman arrived and started shooting, police said. The two men were taken by private cars to Crozer Chester Medical Center, where they were reported listed in stable condition.

The second shooting occurred just after 11 p.m. in the 200 block of West 21st Street when a 43-year-old man was shot in the back as he walked to his car, police said in a statement. He died later at the hospital.

Police said two of the victims had a family relationship, leading investigators to suspect the shootings were connected, according to a statement.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Chester Detective Charles Bothwell at 610-447-8430 or CID Detective Michael Jay at 610-891-4711.
