Shortly after 7 this morning, traffic began moving again on both sides of the Walt Whitman Bridge, but by then snafu had led to jams on the Ben Franklin Bridge as well.
An overturned tractor trailer shut the eastbound Walt Whitman for several hours, while only one westbound lane was creeping by, backing traffic up on Route 42 all the way to Route 55.
As a result, more motorists switched to the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, creating slow-going, especially westbound into Philadelphia.
The tractor trailer on the Walt Whiteman was uprighted around 6 a.m. and removed by about 6:30, but the eastbound lanes remained closed for another half-hour or so as crews continued inspections and cleanup.
Several westbound lanes were opened after 7 a.m.
