The School Reform Commission Wednesday voted to hire an educational consultant to a new, $180,000-a-year job in the Philadelphia School District.

Leroy D. Nunery II will be the "chief of institutional advancement and strategic partnerships." He started April 1.

Nunery will be in charge of fundraising and outside partnerships.

Last June, the commission approved a $90,000 contract with Nunery's educational consulting firm, Plus Ultre LLC, for "professional services" to help the district implement Imagine 2014, Superintendent Arlene Ackerman's strategic plan.

Nunery, who has also worked for Edison Schools and the University of Pennsylvania, was a finalist for the superintendency ultimately won by Ackerman.
