Sections of the city will undergo aerial spraying tomorrow to control mosquito larvae, the Department of Environmental Protection announced yesterday. The spraying was originally slated for Monday.

Beginning around 8 a.m., Helicopter Applicators Inc. will spray VectoLex CG over wetlands in and around the biosolid and wastewater treatment plants near Penrose Ferry Road in Southwest Philadelphia, and treat the wetlands on the east side of Philadelphia International Airport. Later in the morning, the wetlands at the wastewater treatment plant near the Betsy Ross Bridge in Port Richmond will be targeted, the department said.

The department said VectoLex CG is not a chemical pesticide, but a species-specific bacterial agent that targets mosquito and black fly larvae when added to water.
