A woman died when her car crashed into the back of a state Transportation Department truck in a construction zone on Interstate 95 in Delaware County yesterday morning, shutting the northbound lanes of the highway for about three hours, police said.
State police from the Media barracks said Elizabeth Jacquot, 46, of Philadelphia, died at the scene. Police said Jacquot, who was wearing a seatbelt, was traveling north on I-95 near the Chichester Avenue exit about 1:30 a.m. when her 2001 Volkswagen Jetta struck a stationary PennDot dump truck that had been towing an arrow board. Police said the airbag in the Jetta went off.
Northbound traffic was detoured until the lanes reopened about 4:30 a.m.
No PennDot workers were injured, police said.
