LANCASTER - A tractor-trailer driver who did not notice slower-moving traffic in front of her caused the fiery weekend crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike that killed three people from New Jersey, police said.
The seven-vehicle crash killed Gertrude Hill, 70; Jacqueline Gail Hill, 39; and Morgan Shannon, 5, all of Pittsgrove, the Lancaster County coroner said.
Westbound lanes of the turnpike were closed several miles east of the Lebanon-Lancaster exit for nearly nine hours after the crash Saturday afternoon.
The tractor-trailer hit six passenger cars and then burst into flames, police said. The dead were all in the first car hit, authorities said. - AP
