Two thieves ran off with a box containing $3,800 from a breast-cancer fund-raising table yesterday afternoon at the Shops at Liberty Place in Center City, police said.
As one man held a door open, his accomplice grabbed the box and dashed out of the mall at 16th and Chestnut Streets about 1:45, said Detective Anthony Anderson of Central Detectives.
The money was being raised for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and one woman was seated at the table during the theft, which was captured on security video, Anderson said.
That video did not yield clear images of either man, but a video at a nearby store promises to deliver a better image of one of the men, Anderson said. - Robert Moran
