Pictures of the annual Holocaust Remembrance ceremony on the Parkway
Members of the Jewish community and others gather at the Horwitz-Wasserman Holocaust Memorial Plaza on the Ben Franklin Parkway on Sunday to remember the more than 6 million Jews who died in the Holocaust.

The ceremony, also taking place in cities around the world, was the 58th annual remembrance in Philadelphia and included candle lighting, music, readings and prayers. The first such ceremony was in 1964, after the memorial, "Monument to Six Million Jewish Martyrs" was presented to the city. The sculpture by Nathan Rapport, who was also a Holocaust survivor, was the first public monument in North America to memorialize the victims of the Holocaust.
