One of South Jersey’s most recognizable buildings is on the market.

TD Bank N.A. has left its longtime headquarters at a five-story corporate pyramid off Route 70 and Astoria Boulevard in Cherry Hill.

The 4.2-acre site, which towers over the adjacent New Jersey Turnpike, is one of the tallest buildings in Cherry Hill, according to a real estate firm’s brochure.

The 68,520-square-foot building could attract “an office or medical user who wishes to brand their location,” said the CBRE brochure, noting that zoning there would allow retail development.

TD Bank’s new home is a modern office building with tinted glass walls approximately 3 miles away in Mount Laurel. That site, at Church Road and Arbor Way, already held the firm’s conference center.

Significantly, it’s near several other TD Bank buildings that share the Horizon Corporate Center, according to a spokesman.

“We’re bringing our local colleagues closer together for a connected campus experience and creating more opportunities for colleagues to interact with senior leaders at the bank,” he said.

The moving process began in September 2024, when TD Bank sold its Cherry Hill building for $1.7 million, property records show. The bank leased back the building for approximately 14 months while employees relocated to Mount Laurel, and the Cherry Hill site is now for sale again.

TD Bank, which used a Mount Laurel address on papers for the August 2024 transaction, officially announced the change Sept. 9.

They expect to fully exit the Route 70 site by October, the spokesman said.

TD Bank’s former headquarters might look like a ziggurat to some ancient civilizations. But the real estate brochure describes it as having “a wedding cake design with each floor plate smaller than the one below it.”

The Cherry Hill building was erected in 1986 as an eye-catching home for Commerce Bancorp, a South Jersey firm acquired by TD Bank in 2007.

TD Bank is one of the country’s largest banks by assets, and serves more than 10 million customers. It has approximately 11,000 offices in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, as well as in the Carolinas and Florida.

It’s a subsidiary of Canada-based Toronto-Dominion Bank.
