For Abi and Brian Bierman, their latest move parallels the journey of so many young couples.

It’s a question of trade-offs: the cultural and entertainment offerings of the city against the spacious surroundings of the suburbs.

Abi, a nurse-practitioner, and Brian, a CPA, rented for about five years in different Philadelphia neighborhoods before settling on their South Philadelphia home in 2019. The three-bedroom, 1½-bath rowhouse is close to public transportation, and restaurants, shops, and the Sports Complex are all within walking distance.

Brian particularly loved that he could watch Sixers ticket prices plummet on StubHub and swoop in on them at the last minute, then take a short walk to the game.

But now the couple lives in Voorhees, N.J., near Brian’s parents, in a large house with a sunroom and a yard where their 1-year-old daughter has more space to play.

In the South Philly rowhouse, the Biermans put in new stairs and updated the kitchen, which features spacious cabinets, quartz countertops, and a pantry closet. They also converted the finished basement into a home office when COVID-19 hit.

With an open-concept layout, the house features hardwood floors throughout.

Its three bedrooms and main bathroom are on the second floor. The powder room is in the basement, as is the laundry room with a new Speed Queen washer.

The house is near FDR Park and the East Passyunk corridor, with easy access to major highways.

It is listed by Carly Zakroff of BHHS Fox & Roach-Rosemont for $329,900.
