Jen Larkin had lived briefly in Manayunk while a graduate student at Bryn Mawr College, so when she moved into her new husband’s bachelor home, he didn’t have to sell her on the neighborhood.

“It’s a good family scene,” said Jen, chief development officer for a local nonprofit.

Husband Andrew, who is in sales for a power tool and hardware dealer, bought the three-bedroom, 2½-bath house in 2013. In the 10 years he’s lived there, ”I’ve touched every single room in the house.” Jen moved in 2019.

While it needed limited work when he first moved in, he said, “the projects were manageable and the end of the row [location] let in a lot of light.” The Larkins added a deck and a rear-of-the-house extension.

Now, with two children, they are headed to Jenkintown for more space.

The rowhouse has a covered front porch, and the interior features hardwood floors and recessed lighting.

The combined living and dining room has exposed brick walls and high ceilings. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances, a center island, and a white subway tile backsplash, with an adjacent laundry room and powder room.

The second-floor primary bedroom has a private bathroom, and the other two bedrooms have ample closet space.

There is sheltered three-car parking and a private composite deck. There are also central air and an unfinished basement for storage.

Total square footage is 1,472.

Jen described the neighborhood as “really kid-friendly, lots of people our age with kids and plenty to do.”

The house is in walking distance of Main Street Manayunk, Regional Rail, and several parks. It has easy access to Route 1, the Schuylkill Expressway, and Kelly Drive.

It is listed by Sean Adams of Compass Real estate for $420,000.
