On the market: A two-bedroom townhouse in Fairmount for $565,000
A couple added new flooring, new electric, and a locally crafted stained-glass door to this 1,400-square-foot home.
For many couples, deciding where to settle is a difficult choice.
But for Krissy and Danny Stafford, that was never an issue.
Both grew up in Fairmount and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. Their families still live there.
The couple met at a Super Bowl Party in 2005 and they had been renting in Fairmount when Danny’s father gave them a two-bedroom, 1½-bath house in 2009 on the same block where Krissy’s mother grew up.
And Krissy, a cardiac stenographer who transcribes ultrasound records, and Danny, a Marine Corps veteran who works for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, set about remodeling the 1,400-square-foot home.
They added new flooring, new electric, even a stained-glass door by a Ukrainian artisan from the neighborhood.
“We loved the house and we did a lot of the work ourselves,” says Krissy. But now they’re moving to a larger home – still in Fairmount.
The first floor has a living room with ample natural light, a stone fireplace wall, a large front window, and a large sitting area, and a kitchen with black granite counters and a bar counter.
The outdoor entertainment area is an outstanding feature of the house, with fireplace seating, a full-size hot tub, and a large flat-screen TV.
The finished basement has a family room or den and a separate rear area for storage, laundry and mechanicals. It currently includes an in-home gym.
On the second floor, the rear bedroom has a bay window, fireplace mantel and a walk-in closet that could easily be converted to a bedroom.
The primary bedroom has an expanded walk-in closet and an extra large hall bath with a glass shower and separate hot tub.
The house is listed by Melanie McConnell of Keller Williams Philly for $565,000.
