Police fatally shoot man near Philadelphia International Airport
The 36-year-old man was fatally shot at the I-95 ramp to the Philadelphia International Airport, police said.

A Philadelphia police officer shot and killed a man who got into a physical struggle with another officer on the southbound ramp of I-95 early Monday, police said.
Shortly after 1 a.m., a uniformed officer from the department’s airport unit was on patrol in his cruiser when he encountered a 36-year-old man who told the officer he had been stabbed, according to police.
The officer radioed in a request for an ambulance and back up, police said. While the two waited, they got into a physical altercation and the officer used a Taser — without success — to try to subdue the man, according to police. As the two continued to struggle, police said, a second officer arrived and fired his gun multiple times, striking the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:25 a.m.
Police did not identify the officers or the man who was killed. Neither officer was wearing a body-worn camera, they said.
The officer who shot the man, a 53-year-old who has worked with the department for 28 years, has been placed on administrative duty, while the incident is under investigation, police said.
