Puchi DeJesús, representative for Philly Boricua, shares on the reason for the first people of Puerto Rico assembly in Philadelphia: "We feel that, despite having such a strong cultural presence in the city, there isn't has many activities for us to be educated and well involved in the political issues that affect us here and on the island, like in New York City, where there is a more active and political representation. We fell that Philadelphia has a void and we want to fill that void. There have been 56 people assemblies around Puerto Rico and around the U.S. So, we understood that it was time to bring the conversations to the city by having an assembly here."
