Football: Malvern Prep's Gallen bound for Delaware
Malvern Prep's Troy Gallen, a speedy multi-purpose player, has committed to play his college football at Delaware.
The 6-foot, 175-pound senior, who has been clocked at 4.36 seconds in the 40-yard dash, is a running back, receiver, cornerback, and kick returner for the Friars.
"I started looking at Delaware last year," he said. "I went to their camp in the spring, and I really liked it."
Gallen is projected to be a slot receiver for the Blue Hens. He also had a scholarship offer from Bucknell. Others interested were James Madison, Lafayette, Temple, and Villanova.
The 17-year-old from Glen Mills was at Delaware's intrasquad scrimmage last Saturday. "It was an awesome experience, a really good time," he said.
Last season for Malvern Prep, Gallen rushed for 600-plus yards and scored 13 touchdowns. He was a second-team all-Inter-Academic League selection.
