The National To Play Two Nights at the Academy of Music

These days, indie-rock is growing ever more august and respectable. Bon Iver - whose self titled second album comes out Tuesday and can be listened to here - is in the New York Times Magazine. The Decembrists and Best Coast are playing a sold-out show this Academy of Music on Wednesday. And now another acclaimed indie band, The National, are doing the Academy, too. The unsmiling band fronted by Matt Berninger and featuring the Dessner and Devendorf siblings will set up shop at the 154 year old opera house on south Broad Street on September 7 and 8. Better news still: Yo La Tengo and Wye Oak are opening the show. Tickets went on sale this morning at KimmelCenter.org. The tour is in support of last year's High Violet, but the band has a typically broody new song, "Exile Vilify" in the game Portal 2.
