Bill Iezzi: Holy Cross's Softball Goodbye

When Gloucester Catholic eliminated Holy Cross from the Non-Public B quarterfinal, 4-2, Tuesday, there were no tears.

The Lancers knew that they started slowly against a good team and the outcome was predictable.

"We were in it the whole game and we kept our heads up," said Taylor Cowan, who drove in a run in the third inning, to cut the Rams' lead in half, 4-2.

Holy Cross pitcher Taylor Steele added: "We were working on getting back into the game and we were a little excited after scoring some runs but they played good and had us by two.

"It was a very good season. We played together well, we had a good record."

The Lancers finished at 16-6.
