Tennis: Lenape's Kocovic loses state final

Shore Regional junior Michael Lippens scored a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Lenape senior Nik Kocovic in Thursday's championship match of the state singles tournament.

Lippens finished a perfect season with a 26-0 record.

Kocovic, who is going to the University of Pennsylvania, finished his final season with a 37-1 record. He was 70-2 in his last two seasons, with both losses in the state tournament to the eventual champion -- Ocean Township's Mike Lampa in the semifinals in 2009 and Lippens in Thursday's final at the outdoor stadium courts at Mercer County Park.

Kocovic finished his career with a 126-8 record.
