With both teams starting the girls' lacrosse season, Methacton looked to put an end to something Tuesday afternoon: Boyertown's 152-game Pioneer Athletic Conference winning streak.
And when Deb Peifer bounced her second goal of the game into the net early in overtime, the Warriors were on the way to doing just that. They held on and defeated Boyertown, 7-6, at Phoenixville.
"I'm thrilled that this is how we started the season," Methacton coach Laurie Markle said. "It was everybody's first game and nobody knew what either team was bringing. We brought speed and tenacity."
In goal, Warriors' goalie Sam Rothman made 11 saves on 17 shots. Sarah Hughes and Jackie Cerchio both scored two goals for the Warriors.
