Police late Monday afternoon identified two people who were killed Sunday night after a Mercedes slammed into a school bus on Roosevelt Boulevard.
The crash happened in the northbound outer lanes near Woodward Street just before 9 p.m. Sunday, police said. The bus was stopped at a red light when it was hit from behind by the 2000 Mercedes.
After the crash, the Mercedes caught fire, killing the driver, Ramon Rodriguez-Camacho, 32, of the 1000 block of East Tioga Street, and a passenger, Lorraine Rivera, 38, from the same block.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene at 9:05 p.m.
The bus had just dropped off its passengers a few minutes before the accident, Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters.
The bus driver, a 41-year-old woman, was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
