Child ejected from vehicle on S. Jersey highway

A child was ejected from a vehicle in an accident on Interstate 295 in South Jersey early Tuesday afternoon, police said.

A New Jersey State Police spokesman said a vehicle with several people inside was traveling north on I-295 by exit 11A (to U.S. 322) in Logan Township, Gloucester County, when it got in an accident at about 1:45 p.m.

A juvenile in the vehicle was ejected, Trooper Alejandro Goez said. The child was in serious condition, but was conscious when transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Delaware County, Pa.

Goez did not have any further information on the child. No other injuries were reported.

He said the details and cause of the accident were under investigation.

Northbound I-295 in that area was closed as State Police units investigated. The left lane reopened at about 2:40 p.m.
