A Reading grocery clerk was wounded when a customer accidentally dropped his handgun and it discharged.

The employee of the Weis Markets, located at North 13th and Rockland streets, was treated at a local hospital late Monday for a graze wound, station WFMZ-TV reported.

Immediately after the incident, police swarmed the store. Police said the gun owner had a legal permit to carry the weapon, according to the station.
"We are grateful for the timely and professional response of the Reading Police Department and local emergency services," said Dennis Curtin, Weis' director of public relations told the station.
Berks County District Attorney John Adams said the shooting remains under investigation with no decision on charges, according to the station.
