Man killed in afternoon shooting in Fairhill

A man is dead after a shooting in Fairhill on Tuesday afternoon

Philadelphia police said the slaying happened just before 12:30 p.m. on the 3000 block of North Orkney Street.

A 49-year-old man who was shot in his lower back and hip was taken to Temple University Hospital, but he was pronounced dead at 12:49 p.m.

No arrests were immediately made and no description of any suspects was available. The motive remains under investigation.
